  2. IRIX 6.5.5 Installation Tools and Overlays, August 1999 README

  6. This CD contains the miniroot and other components necessary to boot
  7. the system into the basic installation environment for operating
  8. system installs and upgrades. It also contains documentation called
  9. "Customer Welcome", which includes Start Here pages that provide important
  10. information you should read before you install this release of IRIX.
  11.  
  12.  To view the Start Here pages:
  13.  1. Insert the Installation Tools and Overlays CD 1-of-2 August 1999
  14.     into the CD-ROM drive.
  15.  2. Open a Web browser and enter the following address:
  16.     file:/CDROM/WhatsNew/yourSystem.html
  17.  
  18.       NOTE: Literally type yourSystem.html; do not
  19.             type your actual system name.

  21.  3. Click the "Start Here" link.

  32. Carefully follow the instructions in the CD booklet that came packaged
  33. with the 6.5.5 CDs.  It is especially important to follow the
  34. instructions when upgrading from a release prior to IRIX 6.5.  Among
  35. other things, these instructions tell you how to insert all
  36. applicable IRIX 6.5 CDROMs  (or open all network distribution
  37. directories) as well as the 6.5.5 CDROMs, before issuing any "keep"
  38. or "install" commands.  If this is not done, your installation will
  39. not be successful (you will get unresolvable conflicts). Refer to the
  40. CD installation booklet for a list of applicable and necessary CDs.
